Two new platforms aimed at rental companies

US-based JLG has unveiled a new electric scissor lift and personal lift at M&T Expo.
The 3248RS has a working height of 32 feet (9.75 m) and a capacity of 705 lbs (320 kg). The LiftPod FS80 in addition to the portable personal lift meanwhile combines the portability of a ladder with the stability of a work platform.
Srategic director of corporate accounts Richard Field told Construction Latin America, "The company's focus is on rental companies," with the new models.
Tim Morris, vice president of Sales, Market Development and Support for the Americas said, "The company hopes that with this fair JLG will achieve a greater brand recognition, not only in Brazil but throughout Latin America." He added that the Latin American market in general was growing and that Brazil represented about 50% in terms of sales.
Marcio Cardoso, director of sales and marketing for JLG South America said the company sold 2,200 machines in 2011, "A fairly high number compared to 2010."
He said the company was always looking for further expansion and is now also focusing on parts availability in the region. "We increased our inventory of parts to US$3 million and doubled the number of support staff", he said.
