04 April 2018

Thomas Schmidheiny and Bertrand Collomb will not be running for re-election to the council.

The two longest-serving directors at LafargeHolcim, Thomas Schmidheiny and Bertrand Collomb, decided not to run for re-election to their positions at the company's next annual meeting on May 8.

Schmidheiny - who was CEO of Holcim - has worked with the company for the past almost 50 years in various capacities, and served on the board. Following the merger of Lafarge and Holcim, he became a member of the LafargeHolcim board in 2015. He will remain as one of the main shareholders of the group.

In recognition of his many years of service, the LafargeHolcim board of directors decided to appoint Schmidheiny as honorary chairman of the group.

For his part, Bertrand Collomb joined Lafarge in 1975. After serving in various management positions, including the North American operations, he was president and CEO of Lafarge between 1989 and 2003, and president until 2007, and then director until 2012.

He was named honorary president of Lafarge in 2007, and joined the LafargeHolcim board in 2015.

All other members of the board of directors will be presented for re-election. They are: Beat Hess, President; Oscar Fanjul; Paul Desmarais Jr; Patrick Kron; Gérard Lamarche; Adrian Loader; Jürg Oleas; Nassef Sawiris; Hanne Birgitte Breinbjerg Sørensen; and Dieter Spälti.

According to LafargeHolcim, with the retirement of two of its members, the council will be reduced to only 10 members.
